How to find our Church
Somewhere there is a description of a Parish choir as a motley crew who were a law unto
themselves, forever causing trouble and singing to please themselves!  There is an
element of truth in this because our regular practices and occasional social gatherings
have created a group who know each other rather well!  We do try and remember that our
sole function is to enhance the Liturgy – to provide a lead for the congregation, and to
help make particular feastdays real celebrations.  You may think this does not match the
choir that you have heard – the hesitant, out of tune disasters that sometimes occur, but
we do try and do our best.

Choir practices take place on Monday evenings from 7.30 – 9.00pm in the Church: do
come and join us if you like singing.  (You do not have to feel you have to commit yourself
to being in the choir on Sunday mornings – we have one singer who comes so that she can
sing any new music with more confidence from the congregation.)

As well as the sung Mass on Sunday mornings, and other feasts like Christmas and the
Easter Vigil, the choir have also sung at other deanery and diocesan occasions.

WE have · joined with other parishes to sing at the Deanery Confirmation Masses that
have taken place for the last 3 years.

We went to the Diocesan ‘Gathering 2000’and a joint choir from the Parish and school
also had a performance slot in one of the music marquees.

We were part of the massed choirs at Douai Abbey for ‘Songs of Praise’ broadcast on
Palm Sunday 2001. (If you missed this, several choir members recorded our fleeting
seconds of TV footage as individuals!!)

Choir Prayers:

St. Cecilia, Pray for us.

Lord we pray that what we sing with our lips we may believe with our hearts, and that what
we believe in our hearts we may show forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
New members are always welcome. Do come along to a practice or come and
introduce yourself to one of us after Sunday Mass.
