FROM THE PASTOR:
This is a remarkable time of the year as all our major Festival line up to be celebrated. This Sunday is the
Ascension of the Lord, next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, the Sunday after is Trinity Sunday and the Sunday
after that is Corpus Christi. What! You may exclaim. At least two of these Festivals used to be on a Thursday.
Not any more in England and Wales. The Great Festivals of the Lord are now to be Celebrated on a Sunday –
the main celebration for the week. This gives the Community an opportunity to remember that Sunday’s focus
is a celebration of the Lord’s work. Next Sunday, the Feast of Pentecost, we shall give thanks for the promise
of Jesus that the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, will be sent to the disciples to be with them to strengthen and
inspire them in their work. As we read of the giving of the Holy Spirit in the Acts of the Apostles, we are also
reminded of the Catholic Nature of our Church; the diverse and Universal Family of people and Nations which
make up the One Family of Christ. To show the importance of each Nation and community, some of the
Readings and Prayers at this Mass will be in different languages. The Gospel will be read in English and then in
the dialect used in Goa (India). The Bidding Prayers will be made up of different languages with and English
translation. I hope that the Mass will be an opportunity to show our Catholic Family in all its beauty and
richness. If you want to wear your National costume then please feel free to do so… I had better go and get
my bowler hat and Union Jack vest!!

one liturgy a month. You do not need to be a teacher or

being part of a team please talk to Father Bruce, Ela Yates,
Trish Hamblin or Kellie Pottinger after Mass.
